Bombardier CRJ family

The Bombardier CRJ line on this site has four variants. Length runs from the CRJ100 to the CRJ900, a spread of 31.0 ft (35.3%). Four different wingspans appear across the line. Maximum takeoff weight grows by 69.7% from the lightest variant to the heaviest. The variants spread over Design Groups II and III and Approach Categories C and D.

The CRJ700 has the joint tallest tail and the 3rd-longest wingspan in Design Group II (77 types). The CRJ700 has the highest maximum takeoff weight in Design Group II (77 types, 74 with a published figure). The CRJ200 has the joint 5th-longest wheelbase and the 5th-most US flight-plan operations in FY2024 in Design Group II (77 types, 76 with a published figure). The FAA lists the CRJ900 in two approach categories, C and D. Among the 80 families on this site, the line has the 4th-most US flight-plan operations in FY2024.

The CRJ900 has the 3rd-lowest tail in Design Group III (77 types).

Bombardier CRJ100

The Bombardier CRJ100 has the joint 5th-greatest length and the 5th-lowest wingspan-to-length ratio in Design Group II (77 types), and the joint 2nd-highest FAA reference approach speed among the 77 types in Design Group II (the input for its Approach Category). Within the 4-variant Bombardier CRJ line it has the lowest tail. Its FAA reference approach speed, 141 kt, the input that sets its Approach Category, sits exactly on the 141 kt floor of Category D. The CRJ100 also has the joint 3rd-lowest maximum takeoff weight in Approach Category D (39 types).
